JOE BENVENUTO
Chief Operating Officer Joe Benvenuto provides oversight and management of LIFTbuild’s operations and alliance partner relationships. Over the past four years, he spearheaded the transformation of the LIFTbuild technology to be more efficient in the field and more widely accepted by clients and local authorities. He is currently leading the team on LIFTbuild’s proof-of-concept project, Exchange, while also spearheading strategic planning efforts for the entity. He continues to lead the commercialization of LIFTbuild. Tim VanAntwerp joined Granger Construction in 2000 and currently serves as Vice President of Business Development. Tim also focuses on Lean operations, risk management and higher education project support. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University, and a Juris Doctor from Wayne State University. Tim is a Michigan licensed engineer and Michigan licensed attorney. Andrew Dunlap is a Principal at SmithGroup and leads their Building Technology Studio. His primary work experience is in the analysis and development of building enclosures, specializing in the evaluation of airtightness, hygrothermal performance, and energy efficiency. KIMBERLY DOWDELL, AIA
Kimberly N. Dowdell, AIA, NOMAC, is a licensed architect and frequent speaker on the topic of architecture, leadership, diversity, sustainability, and the future of cities. In her 2019-2020 term as national president of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), she worked to increase opportunities for women and people of color to gain more equitable access to the building professions. RONALD STALEY, FAPT
Ron Staley is senior vice president and executive director of historic preservation for The Christman Company. Ron joined Christman in 1984 and in 1992 founded Christman’s historic preservation group and has since provided construction services on both high-profile and complex museum-quality preservation work and historic tax credit work on projects including the U.S. Capitol, state capitols in Virginia, Maryland, and Michigan, university landmarks, National Park Service projects, and UNESCO and World Heritage projects in Cuba, Morrocco, Poland, and Slovakia. Most recently, he led the rehabilitation of Detroit’s abandoned Michigan Central Station. Read more.
RICHARD HESS, AIA, NCARB
Richard Hess, AIA, is a principal and regional operations director at Quinn Evans with over 25 years of combined experience practicing and teaching architecture. Throughout his career, Mr. Hess has been passionately involved in the adaptive reuse of existing places and re-imagining historic buildings for the next generation of users. Following Detroit’s notorious bankruptcy in 2013, he spearheaded a small team of like-minded individuals interested in being a part of the city’s historic comeback, focusing on the revitalization of Detroit’s neighborhoods and its many culturally rich but abandoned places, including the Wurlitzer Building, the Old Wayne County Courthouse, and the Metropolitan Building. Andrew Di Dio is a Senior Project Manager at Ronnisch Construction Group. Di Dio has spent 13 years in the construction industry after earning his Bachelor’s Degree in construction management at Eastern Michigan University in 2010. He earned his Certificate of Management-Lean Construction, an assessment-based certificate credential that denotes knowledge and understanding of concepts related to lean adoption, practice and process transformation outlined in AGC’s Lean Construction Education Program, in 2015.
