PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
SPEAKERS
Substantial changes were made to the AIA documents in the context of the 2007 version relative to the 1997 version.  Those changes have an effect not only on the legal framework within which the project proceeds, but also the manner in which the risks the project presents are managed.  A specific understanding of those changes is necessary in order to manage the risks associated with them.  One cannot manage risk if one does not appreciate the risk.

As for the Consensus Docs, they represent a complete departure from the framework within which the AIA documents have traditionally been structured.  An understanding of why those documents were formulated and why they reflect the new structure is critical to an appreciation of the Architect’s role under the framework those documents create. Also to identify the risks that altered role may engender.

Chances are very good that most if not substantially all of the significant construction projects undertaken in the next 10 years will employ relationships based on one of these two documents.  An understanding of how they work and what they are intended to accomplish is critical for continued success in the A/E market.
